APRIL 30 VARSITY VS. BENEDICTINE

Lots of shots — 24 of them — just not many went in. Randy Zak had 2 goals, and Mike Taylor, Jason Lapierre, Tyler McLaughlin and Andrew Bell each had 1. Karl Robie had 21 saves, worthy of a late-game salute to Benedictine.

Goals by Mike Taylor (2), Jason Lapierre (2), Andrew Bell (2), Randy Zak (1) and Tyler McLaughlin. Jake Houk with two assists. Ground ball leaders were Gino DiGeronimo and Jake Houk with 6 each. Karl Robie with 19 saves. Tough loss, especially after losing Luke in the second half to a knee injury.

APRIL 23 JV VS. YOUNGSTOWN

Evan Harcourt again was ground balls leader with 6; Eric Murray, TJ Carlo and Ryan Mulhorn each had 4. And it was good to see some of the newer players like Jordan Frisco and Calvin Philipp get into the thick of the action. Goals were scored by Sean Arthur and Jack Grisko, and the game winner was scored by Dom Camperchioli.
JV moves to a record of 5-1.

APRIL 23 VARSITY VS. YOUNGSTOWN

Lost in overtime in a game played on a pasture of puddles and mud. The team we played was CVCA’s varsity team, which is a first-year team. TJ Carlo had 2 goals and was by far the dirtiest and wettest from rolling around in the puddles. Dom Camperchioli, Sean Arthur and Tommy Ferry each added a goal. Evan Harcourt was ground balls leader with 8. Doug Robie had 7 saves.
JV record goes to 3-1.

APRIL 11 VARSITY VS. PADUA
FINAL SCORE: PADUA 11, BEES 6
Padua was stronger than when we played them in a scrimmage a few weeks. We were tied at halftime at 4-4 but allowed the LaGuardia brothers to get too close too often in the third.
Goals came from Andrew Bell and Josh Nenadal (2 each), and Tyler McLaughlin and Jason Lapierre (1 each.) Josh was the leader on ground balls (7) and shots (12). Andrew and Randy Zak had 8 shots each.
Varsity record drops to 2-1.

APRIL 8 VARSITY VS. HOLY NAME.
FINAL SCORE: BEES 18, HOLY NAME 0

What an unbelievable game. Everyone should be proud of their individual effort and the team as a whole. Because of the 33 combined penalties, the most I’ve even seen at any level in lacrosse, our extra man offense and man down defense saw a lot of time on the field and they delivered.

Let’s savor the victory but not forget we were once on the receiving end. Not every game will be as easy so let’s remain focused and continue building on our own individual skills and the team skills that will make our team the best it
can be.
Varsity goes to 2-0.

APRIL 5 JV VS. NDCL
FINAL SCORE: BEES 7, NDCL 4

JV Bees woke up in the second half to climb out of a 3-1 hole to beat the NDCL Lions 7-4. Tommy Ferry paced the offense with a hat trick while Sean Arthur added 2. Brian Musial took it coast to coast for a score to ice the contest. Jack Grisco played through pain to dominate face offs and played a terrific game. Dom Camperchioli was a beast on ground balls all day. As a whole the JV Bees showed composure throughout and tenacity in coming back against a good Lions squad. While much work remains to be done, a 2-0 start lays the foundation for a special season. Great work guys!
JV moves to 2-0.

APRIL 5 VARSITY VS NDCL
FINAL SCORE: BEES 6, NDCL 2

Varsity started off strong in its debut with a 6-2 win over NDCL. Scoring goals were Jason Lapierre, Andrew Bell (2), Randy Zak (2) and Tyler McLaughlin. One of Bell’s shots came from 30 yards out. Assists came from Jason Lapierre and Billy Skebba. Goalie Karl Robie had 9 saves, with goalie Aaron Gerow adding 3 saves.
An impressive stat: Our Varsity took 36 shots; their goalie had 16 saves. NDCL took 21 shots and scored only twice.
Varsity starts season at 1-0.

APRIL 4 JUNIOR VARSITY VS. IGNATIUS
FINAL SCORE: BEES 7, IGNATIUS 2

The JV Bees opened the season on the road with a strong showing by besting the Ignatius Wildcats 7-2 in wet conditions. The Bees defense smothered the cats and Doug Robie stood tall in goal when tested. The Bees featured a balanced attack, receiving goals from each first line middie, Grisko (1), Carlo (2) and Camperchioli (2). Attackmen Ferry and Arthur also tallied a goal each. The Bees played with poise that belied their relative youth and inexperience. Both the man-down (no goals allowed in 5 opportunities) and extra man (at least one goal), were productive. The Bees dominated on ground balls and Jack Grisko was exemplary on face offs.
JV opens the season at 1-0.
